What is the fine art loan or purchase process?

The process of selling or using fine art as collateral for a loan is easy and convenient. All you need to do is bring in your item for appraisal and Biltmore Loan will present you with an offer for a loan or a sale. You will receive cash immediately if you agree to the offer or terms of the loan.

In our 30 years in the business, we have gained the knowledge, experience, and expertise to appraise items taken to us accurately—from famous art pieces to contemporary works. We also have an extensive network of art dealers, brokers, and appraisers to assist us in finding the true value of a piece.

Are pieces used as collateral for an art loan kept safe and secure?

All artwork used as collateral are insured by Lloyd’s of London and stored in a secure, safe and temperature-controlled environment to ensure that the integrity and original condition of the piece are maintained.

How do I obtain an art loan or get cash for art?

In order to speed up the appraisal process, please call or email us with the following information:

  • Name and title of the piece
  • An image of the artwork (front/back/signature shots would be helpful)
  • The dimensions (size) and medium (oil-on-canvas, bronze sculpture, etc.)
  • Original purchase invoice or paperwork that came with the artwork

Certain pieces require a large amount of research, analyzing past auction results and consulting with various experts in the art business. For this reason, please include as much relevant literature or additional documentation you think may be helpful in determining the value of your artwork.

What types of art or artists do you accept as part of fine art loans or purchases?
